This 5 week after school programme is a positive creative time for your child with 2 teachers teaching alternate weeks. Jenny Coyle will coteach week 1 and is an experienced primary school teacher/ potter and has had work displayed in exhibitions. Ann Griffith has had years of experience working in schools and has had work in the Portage Trust Awards and other exhibitions. Both teachers have a lovely rapport with children and positivity.
Children arrive around 3.15pm and are provided with afternoon tea and a play to energise themselves before we get into pottery. They create their own pieces and are inspired by each other’s creations. Class finishes at 5.00pm. Children are encouraged to be creative and to extend their skills at their own level and are taught many skills like joining, basic throwing, hand building, glazing and handpainting with underglazes, creativity, perseverance, patience, manners, sharing and independence with of course some responsibility of cleaning up at the end!
This is a class suitable for 7 years and up, and classes are kept at a maximum of 7 children so that quality attention and guidance can be given to achieve pieces to be proud of. This class cost includes the clay, glazes, firing, afternoon tea and tuition.
